︎ Spatial Design
︎ 3D Animation
Selected as one of 5 international artists, I participated in a virtual, live performance exhibition curated by artist, Katherine Hintz. Five artists included myself worked for seven weeks putting together separate VR experiences all under the theme of digital identity, the digital body and connection through 3D environments. We helped curate the show, Corporeal Gestalt where we all performed in real time to an audience in virtual space. My piece being titled “IN ARTIFICIAL REALITIES, MY FEMALE BODY CAN LAY TO REST”, I explored my own body in the safety of online space and it’s implacations outside of sexual context.
I find that 3D spaces/games/platforms give me a sense of safety because I get to interact with others without being percieved in my female form. This is the theme I wanted to explore during this residency.
My specific piece in this show was a way to confront my physical, female body in the safety of a 3D environment. I created a virtual reality experience consisting of 3D scans of my body, bedroom and childhood toys, distortions of these scans, and finally 3D modeled female body parts that I personally feel hold the most nuance.
I replicated my bedroom as it is filled with relics that have bore witness to my growth into womanhood but remain untouched by societal sexualization of the feminine form.
User Journey
User spawns in the doorway of bedroom, looking upon my body frozen infront of my bedroom mirror.
User is able to move around the space, inspecting objects and if user zooms out text emerges prompting them to use the portal inside of the mirror.
Once user clicks on the mirror’s portal, they are teleported into second environment where animated, scanned toys play with various body parts. A large female form lays comfortably in a protective pose. Artist statement is available here along with interactive option of becoming one of the toys as your avatar inviting you to gaze at the female form in the eyes of a childhood toy.

Process :
︎︎︎Take Nerfs and 3D Scans of my body in various poses, including a tpose that I could rig and animate.
︎︎︎Take 3D scans of three childhood toys and bedroom.
︎︎︎3D Model body part “masks” for childhood toys to interact with.
︎︎︎Rig and animate 3D scanned toys playing with body part masks.
